Lunch Connection: Summer edition
Lunch Connection Summer Edition is a free, healthy picnic lunch offered twice a week during the summer months in the South End of Saint John. This program is open to all ages and has created a space for neighbours of all ages and backgrounds to gather, enjoy lunch and get to know each other.
Besides offering a free picnic lunch we schedule activities such as story tents, literacy walks, and games to encourage community engagement, reduce the “summer slide”, and develop lasting relationships. Volunteers and staff from community service organizations are invited to attend and connect with residents in a safe and fun environment.
Addressing Food Insecurity
Inner City Youth Ministry is committed to addressing food insecurity, improving literacy, and building healthy, resilient families and communities. During the summer months, when school is not in session, many of the school-centred supports for children and families are unavailable. Inner City Youth Ministry responded to this gap by creating Lunch Connection Summer Edition.
