Would you rather it rain marshmallows or skittles?
What is your favourite thing about our family?
What do you think is missing in our neighbourhood?
Questions like these are featured in our Family Connection Program Boxes. While some are very silly, they are all designed with one thing in mind: to get families talking, playing and spending quality time together. We believe that when families are given the tools and encouragement to spend time together they strengthen relationships and build resilience for generations to come (many research studies support this!).
Family Connection, a new program offered in partnership with Pennies and Sparrows, was originally inspired by the need for supportive programming during the Covid-19 pandemic. Once a month, registered families (our Family Connection Crew) receive a specially curated box of surprises to enjoy as a family. We take the work (and the expense) out of having a great family night.
FC Boxes include meal ideas and ingredients to cook together, books to be enjoyed together, age-appropriate books, board games, discussion questions, crafts, snacks and information about the importance of family time, reading together etc.
Current Family Connection participants have said that since the start of the program they dedicate more time to family nights, and read with their children more! If you are interested in joining our Family Connection crew please contact us.
Become A Supporter
Would you like to be a supporter of our Family Connection program? All of our programs are made possible through the generosity of our community: generosity of time, talent and resources. We are looking for volunteers willing to assist in purchasing, preparation and delivery of the boxes. Our volunteers look forward to working with a fun and tight-knit group, and to knowing they are making a real difference in the lives of children throughout our community. Our volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and interests and we work to find roles suited for the skills, interests and schedules of each volunteer.
